The school has excellent ICT facilities which are constantly being evaluated and improved. At present we have eight ICT suites running Microsoft Windows XP and Office 2007 software. We also support many curriculum specific programs such as Serif - animation and drawing, Science programs, CAD programs (e.g. Prodesktop), RE programs and many others.
In addition to this we have 60 brand new laptops available for in-class use by students, utilising cutting edge wireless technology. These have so far proved very successful, encouraging the use of cross curricular ICT. For example laptops may be used for research in subjects such as English or History. All classrooms have further ICT facilities including interactive white boards and projectors.
In KS3 pupils have the entitlement of two ICT lessons per week in Years 7 and 9, and one per week in Year 8. This has a positive effect on all other subject areas as students are encouraged to use ICT to research, present and improve their work in all areas of the curriculum as well as improving their ICT skills and ICT capability. We now run an accelerated curriculum in Years 7 and 8, enabling the students to start their BTEC First Certificate in ICT in the Spring term of Year 9.
Pupils are still making good use of lunchtime clubs for both fun and homework. In one particular after school activity, our Young Enterprise team was extremely successful in last year's Trade Fair - winning the Year 10 prize.
We have a number of courses on offer at Sixth Form which include BTEC Firsts in Business and ICT as well as offering A level Applied Business and A level Applied ICT and the BTEC National in Business.
